This season has been a bit hit or miss for the New Zealand women’s cricket squad. They have contested five one-day games, winning two and losing the other three. This international series will provide the New Zealand women a chance to regain their hot streak in this format. Sophie Devine will lead the Kiwi women’s squad once again in the series. The previous time the two sides faced up, Divine smashed 108 runs off 127 balls. She is still the most important part of the squad. Strong performances from the top three were sufficient to propel New Zealand Women to a narrow victory. Sophie Devine has six ODI hundreds from 128 appearances and is currently averaging 31.02 runs per innings. Her partnership with Suzie Bates at the start of the order is essential to New Zealand’s prospects in the series. Amelia Kerr, an all-rounder, is another talent to keep an eye on. Lea Tahuhu  performed admirably at the Commonwealth Games earlier this year. She’s the type of bowler who would like bowling under these circumstances. New Zealand will also rely on pace bowlers Molly Penfold and Jess Kerr to have a successful stint right from the beginning.

West Indies Women

The West Indies women’s squad has had a difficult year in 2022, particularly in one-day internationals. They have only won one game out of the previous five they have participated. However, playing at home will be a whole other ballgame. The West Indies squad will be optimistic of outperforming their opponents at home. The Caribbean ladies will also take confidence from the fact that they were defeated. Hayley Matthews, the West Indies’ top all-rounder, will lead the team instead of Stefanie Taylor. Hayley Matthews has three one-day international hundreds, including one versus New Zealand.  Deandra Dottin, on the other hand, will be sorely missed by the West Indian ladies. In August, she declared her unexpected resignation from world cricket. Others who will miss the ODI series include Anisa Mohammad and Kycia Knight. Natasha McLean is preparing to return to the team. She will be a valuable addition to the club as a bat in the middle order. In terms of West Indian bowling, offspinner Sheneta Grimmond is the primary wicket-taker for the Windies women. She is the bowler to keep an eye on. Rashada Williams, Natasha McLean, and Shabika Gajnabi would once again replace Stafanie Taylor and captain Hayley Matthews in the top three.
