We are one step closer to the ultimate showdown of BBL. The Challengers game will be played between the Sydney Sixers who lost against the Perth Scorchers in the Qualifier and the Adelaide Strikers who have beaten the Hobart Hurricanes in the Eliminator and Sydney Thunder in the Knockout match. The game will be played at the SCG which is the home ground of Sydney Sixers team. The Sixers need to benefit highly from the home ground advantage and make a strong comeback as they lost badly against the Perth Scorchers in the Qualifier game. The Strikers on the other hand will be high on confidence after two wins in the finals, one against Hurricanes and the next against the Thunder. The Sixers have a good track record against the Adelaide Strikers and they have seven wins from their last eight meetings in the BBL. The Strikers have already lost three games at Sydney this season and it will be interesting to see if they would be able to rewrite history.
Sydney Cricket Stadium has been renowned to be a terrific batting track and has produced many high scoring matches across formats. The new ball fast bowlers usually get a lot of carry and bounce. This is also the best track for spinners to come into play and they had reasonable success in the past as well.
The Sydney Sixers are the defending champions for two previous seasons in the BBL and they have finished second in the table just below the Perth Scorchers who were simply remarkable this season. They played the Qualifier match against the Scorchers and faced a 48 run loss. The best thing about finishing in the top two slots of the table is the assurity of having another chance to play in the final of the tournament. Josh Phillippe seems to have been their most efficient batter. Daniel Hughes, Daniel Christian, and Henriques have been in fine form, keeping the team’s batting line up formidable. The team will be expecting a good outing from Sean Abbott and Justin Avenando from the lower order. Sydney has quality in every area, with Steve O’keefe in command of the spin section, with Nathan Lyon available if needed, and Haden Kerr, Ben Dwarshius, and Jackson Bird as pacers. They have everything necessary to defeat a formidable side. Josh Phillippe and Justin Avenando struggled in the previous match, and the team would benefit from a solid effort from them at the top. Henriques has a lot of expertise, and he’d be in charge of guiding the middle order and forming alliances with Jordan Silk and Daniel Hughes. Daniel Christian, Sean Abbott, and Hayden Kerr can also contribute with the bat coming lower down the order. Their bowlers were hammered in the last encounter, and the team will need Sean Abbott and Nathan Lyon to bowl short spells with the new ball. Ben Dwarshuis and Kerr both arrive with poor numbers, and the team has big hopes for them. For the team to win this match, Steve O’Keefe and Christian must perform admirably in the supporting roles.
The Adelaide Strikers have been on fire recently as the team led by Peter Siddle has made a tremendous turnaround in the competition. The Strikers were languishing down the order for a larger part of the tournament and slowly they started to climb up the ladder. They have now been able to win their last six games in a row which includes the Eliminator match against the Hobart Hurricanes who finished 5 and the Knockout match against the Sydney Thunder who were one of the stronger sides in the entire tournament. The Knockout game played between the Adelaide Strikers and the Sydney Thunder was a thriller and the Striker bowlers held their nerves to clinch victory from the jaws of defeat. The Strikers won the game eventually by just 6 runs ending the hopes of the Thunder fans to advance themselves into the challenger stage. It must be a challenging game against the Sixers, and Siddle would want his team to embrace the maximum of opportunity. At the top, Matthew Short and Alex Cary are scoring runs, and the team is expecting a solid performance from them. Ian Cockbain has performed admirably, and he, along with Travis Head and Jonathan Wells, will face great expectations in the middle order. Thomas Kelly, Matt Renshaw, and Henry Thornton are also expected to make runs down the order for the team. The Strikers will be hoping for more from Conway and Short along with Siddle and Thornton in the bowling department. Fawad Ahmed is also a quality player capable of turning on time for his side with his all round abilities.

This is usually a high scoring venue and the previous records proves it as the previous three games out of a total five have been won by the team batting first. The batting side have been able to set a huge score batting first. The spinners will benefit in the latter part of the match, and the team that wins the toss is likely to bat first in order to put up a large score.
We are backing the Sydney Sixers to win this match. The Strikers are going through a purple patch with six wins in a row. One important stat that turns against them is the fact that they are yet to win their first match in Sydney this year. They also have a very bad track record against the Adelaide Strikers. The Sixers have the best record in this venue as they have managed to win four out of five games that were held at the SCG. The Adelaide Strikers need to perform really well to come up strong against the Sydney Sixers. Bet on the Sydney Sixers to win.
