Due to the obvious involvement of Babar Azam on their roster, the Karachi Kings will always draw a huge amount of focus. Babar Azam, one of the world’s top batters, is the main attraction in the Karachi Kings team. He is also one of the PSL’s most consistent players. His initial pairing with Sharjeel Khan will be critical to the Karachi Kings’ success. Both guys dominated the batting order last season and will be expecting more help this year. Joe Clarke, Mohammad Nabi, and Sahibzada Farhan are all set to be in the starting lineup, with Lewis Gregory and Imad Wasim providing the energy in the midfield. The Karachi Kings have also signed two lesser-known English players, Tom Lammonby and Ian Cockbain, in an attempt to strengthen their batting. A determined attempt to strengthen the middle order might pay benefits for the Karachi Kings, but relying on inexperienced individuals to deliver in the PSL may misfire as well. The Karachi Kings’ bowling attack will be led by Umaid Asif, Romario Shepherd, and Mohammad Amir. There is no scarcity of bowling talent in any PSL squad, including the Karachi Kings. The Karachi Kings are a well-balanced squad, but we are concerned about their batting strength and dependence on inexperienced players to strengthen their middle-order.

Multan Sultans

Previous year, the Multan Sultans were outstanding in the later part of the PSL. Mohammad Rizwan batted beautifully and Shahnawz Dahani bowled effectively for them. Both are part of a roster that is substantially unchanged from last year. Ten of the eleven players that competed in the PSL Final in 2021 are also on the team for PSL 2022. This consistency is a massive benefit, and we’ve seen T20 teams in leagues all around the world experience a big success by relying on it. In addition to Rizwan in the batting order, Sohaib Maqsood, Rilee Rossouw, Tim David, and Johnson Charles are all in the team and should bat. That is a lot of power, and we believe the Multan Sultans have the upper hand over the Karachi Kings in this regard. Imran Khan, Blessing Muzarabani, Imran Tahir, and Shahnawz Dhahani lead another potent bowling assault. The spin-bowling team appears to be a touch weaker and must rely on Imran Tahir to deliver throughout every game, but Tahir is a player who deserves his position in the side even at his age.

• Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, has taken over as team leader. Karachi has placed their trust in the nucleus of their team, keeping as many as eight players.

• Chris Jordan, an England seamer, has been recruited to the squad to help with the speed. He will, however, make the squad later in the competition. 

• In addition, Lewis Gregory has been recruited to the team to help with the lower-order hitting concerns.
