Adelaide Strikers vs Hobart Hurricanes Match Analysis

The Adelaide Strikers will face the Hobart Hurricanes in a must-win Eliminator match in the Big Bash League 2021-22. The tournament is right down to the business end. It is time for the playoffs and who would have thought the Adelaide Strikers would make it till here given the start they had to the tournament. The Strikers have made a strong comeback in the competition, defeating the defending champions Sydney Sixers by a large margin in the final game. In their last league game, the Hurricanes played against the Melbourne Stars, suffering a resounding loss. It would be  hard for the Hurricanes to come out of the kind of hammering they got from the Melbourne Stars in their last game.  The Adelaide Strikers had previously lost twice in Melbourne, so this could be a difficult job for them. The team has performed well with the bat in recent games, but its bowling attack has not been at its best. The Hurricanes could come hard making this a close game.

Adelaide Strikers vs Hobart Hurricanes Pitch Report

Melbourne Cricket Ground has a good surface for batting though there has been slowness on the surface this season. Fast bowlers get assistance from the wicket with the new ball but there isn’t much for them thereafter. Spinners enjoy bowling with deep boundaries providing them with a shield.

Adelaide Strikers vs Hobart Hurricanes Team Previews

Adelaide Strikers

It has been one of the Strikers’ most remarkable comebacks this year. The team that had only one win in the first eight games staged a tremendous turnaround to finish fourth in the standings. They won their fourth game in a row by defeating the Sydney Sixers by 8 wickets. Siddle would like his team to keep their foot on the accelerator and win this game.He has been the best bowler for his side and is leading the chart for the bowler with the most number of wickets in the tournament. Matt Renshaw and Matthew Short are expected to get off to a solid start in this game. Middle order was the biggest worry for the Adelaide Strikers. Travis Head’s comeback has enhanced the middle order, and he will aim to add runs with Jake Weatherald, Ian Cockbain, and Jonathan Wells. Alex Carey will also return along with Travis Head after a successful Ashes series. Having Alex Carey and Thomas Kelly in the side, the side has great power down the order, and the duo would want to add fast runs. The bowling was not that great at the start of the tournament for the Adelaide STrikers even after having big names like Rashid Khan in the mix. Their bowling attack has already been a stumbling block for them, and they’ll need strong performances from Renshaw and Harry Conway to win this game. Siddle hasn’t been at his best recently, and he’d like to put up a solid performance in this game. Fawad Ahmed has performed admirably, and the team will place high hopes on him in this game.

Hobart Hurricanes

The Hobart Hurricanes played some decent amount of cricket to be in this position and it was their batting which won the majority of games for them. Matthew Wade’s team put its bowlers’ squad depth to the test in their last game against the Melbourne Stars and suffered the price, losing by 106 runs. They faced this huge defeat against the Sars to see them post the highest ever total in a Big Bash game. Adding a cherry on the top, Maxwell broke the record of his fellow teammate Marcus Stoinis who was at the non striker’s end, to become the better with the highest individual score in the history of the tournament.  The Hurricanes will have to recover from this shocking setback and perform well over here. Wade will be mindful of the Strikers’ recent form and will expect a strong performance from his team. McDermott is the only player to be consistent for this team. Ben McDermott has been the leading scorer this year, and he will like to get the team off to a strong start today, starting with Caleb Jewell. With Jordan Thompson, D’Arcy Short, and Wade in strong form, the batting lineup is dangerous, and runs can be anticipated from their batting. Lower the lineup, the team would wish to see significant batting from Peter Handscomb and Tim David. They have the capability to become two excellent finishers of the limited overs format. Hurricanes would try to deploy a full-strength squad, and Thomas Rogers and Riley Meredith would have to grab them early leads. Scott Boland is anticipated to return to the team, and he will play a significant role. The Hurricanes have it all to possess a challenge against the Strikers, but it would be the bowling attack of the opposition that makes them a class apart of the Hurricanes side.
