Michael Vaughan Advices Kohli To Take a Short Break From the Game

Michael Vaughan the renowned skipper of England cricket has pointed out some solutions regarding the form of Indian superstar Virat Kohli. Vaughan is currently a member of the group of commentators for the ongoing IPL 2022 season. Virat Kohli was going through a rough period and he already came into the competition with some disappointing performances throughout the year. It has been almost over two years since Virat Kohli scored his 70th International century. Virat Kohli was a player who made batting and run scoring look ridiculously easy and it hurts for every cricket lover to see a champion player go through a lean patch like this.

Where does it come from?

Michael Vaughan commented on Virat Kohli’s performances and suggested that he consider a vacation out of sport. Earlier the current England skipper Ben Stokes took a break from the game to give importance to his mental health. Vaughan feels that a breather will allow Kohli to refresh his thoughts and easily return to form. Kohli looked a different person right from the start of IPL 2022 and in the last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he was yet again dismissed for a golden duck thrice in the whole competition. The superstar was yet again dismissed and had to slowly walk away to the change room after the very first delivery of the match. Virat Kohli had been dismissed for a duck only six times in his entire IPL career and three of them are registered in this season alone.

Vaughan took to Twitter and wrote: “Sometimes a break from the game is all a player needs. The amount of cricket these players play, a break is as good as anything.”

Virat Kohli is the leading run scorer in the history of the tournament and he had to make only one run to achieve the 6500 runs landmark in the tournament. The entire cricketing nation became shell shocked by the fact that the legend once again failed to register a run to his name. The run machine has only 219 runs to his name from 12 games in this season and he scored these at an average of 19.64.

Where does it come from?

Not only Vaughan, many greats of the game including the former Indian head coach Ravi Shasti had also expressed his views earlier regarding the form of Virat Kohli which continues to become a worrying sign for team India as well. Shastri had also suggested that it would be better for Kohli if he takes a break from the game and hinted that he looks overcooked with the kind of mental space he is going through right now.

Where does it come from?

Shastri believes that Virat has many years of cricket left in him and it is better for him to take a breather from all the noises around him and regain his form to be the destructive batter he could become. Shastri believes that Kohli has several years of cricket ahead of him and that choosing a breather will allow him to concentrate on his skills and return back much stronger.
